Scraps of Darkness August Reveal Day

Good Morning Sweet Friends, Today we are revealing the unique and versitile "Rustic" kit from Scraps of Darkness.

This is a really fun kit that you can take in so many directions!!  The paper collections included in the kit are from Authentique "Freedom and Honor" and their beautiful "Natural" collection along with the new "Farm House" Country Kitchen Collection.  Some of the goodies included in the kit and add-ons are some Kaisercraft Wooden Flourishes, Tim Holtz Mini Paper Clips along with some Prima Tiny Junkyard Findings (Special Screws), some really cute mini red clothespins, a clear stamp from Kaisercraft and a 6 x 6 stencil from the CraftersWorkShop.

The first project that I have started on is the Kaisercraft Recipe Book included in the Creativity Add-On kit.  I used some of the FarmHouse Country Kitchen collection for this.  I started by staining the wooden book cover with some Tim Holtz "Vintage Photo stain and after that dried I applied some Tim Holtz "Weathered Wood" Distress Paint.  I then layered some papers from the collection adhering them by using a spray adhesive.  I also used the mini red clothepins and painted the cherries included in the kit with Folk Art Red.  The Alphas are from Imaginarium Designs and were also painted with the same Folk Art Red.  I used a large burlap flower to compliment the Burlap butterfly stickers from "Little Yellow Bicycle" included in the kit along with some ribbons on the book rings that came with the kit.  I can't wait to spend some time on this cookbook and have more reveals as it progresses.

For my second project I did a layout using this month's sketch by Laura.  I used the Authentique "Natural" Collection as suggested for the sketch.  I had recently bought some Heidi Swapp Memory Files and decided to use one to showcase the photo of my handsome husband on the yacht just after we were married this summer on July 30th!!  I altered the photo in photoshop to give it a vintage feel and made several tags with my Tim Holtz die cut and used the Prima Junk Yard Findings "Special Screws" at the top of the tags.
